Hi guys, I came across the HGTV magazine issue that matches my decorating philosophy... They wrote these words on their cover Jan-Feb. 2013... ''More Style!  Less Spending!  Needless to say I became a big fan of this magazine.

Rajeunissez la Vieille Mélamine - Rejuvinate Old Melamine!

1.  Utilisez le papier à sabler 150 pour adhérer toutes les surfaces que vous allez peindre.

2.  Lavez avec un détergent T.S.P. diluée dans l'eau pour nettoyer la surface. Vous devez bien rincer avec de l'eau et laisser sécher. S'il vous plaît utilisez des gants de protection pour cette procédure. Suivez les instructions du fabricant qui sont sur sur ​​l'emballage.

3. Texturisez la mélamine de sorte qu'elle ne semble pas peinte ahah:! Voici mon petit truc et recette:

Ratio: 1 tasse de peinture sous-couche (j'ai utilisé le format 946ml. Zinsser elle est incroyable ... à base d'huile) + 3 à 4 cuillèrées à table de Plâtre de Paris. Mélangez bien ... Puis mélangez à nouveau et tout au long de la procédure.   Pratiquez sur une planche échantillon avant et pour obtenir la texture désirée.

4. Peindre avec la méthode de pinceau avec des coups croisés ... image ci-dessus.  Lorsque c'est séche poncez légèrement. Le tout devrait être doux au toucher.... On ne veux pas de grumeaux...

5.  Pour la couche de finition, j'ai utilisé la peinture Behr base 7050 Blanc Ultra Pur, Satin, peindre avec la même méthode coups croisés...image ci-dessus. Poncez légèrement lorsque sèche.

N.B.  Les poignées ont été transformé avec de peinture en aérosol pour métal.  Deux couleurs ont été utilisé...Gris & Blanc

1.Use 150 sandpaper to scratch all areas that will be painted. 


2.Wash with T.S.P all purpose heavy duty cleaner, diluted in water, to clean the surface area.  You must rinse well with water and let dry.   Please use protective gloves for this procedure.  Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the box.

3. Texturize flat melamine so it does'nt look painted ahah!!!:  Here is my little trick and recipe:  

Ratio:  1 cup of undercoat paint (I used Zinsser it's incredible...oil base) + 3 to 4 tablespoons of Plaster of Paris.  Mix well...Then mix again and through out the procedure.  Test and practice on a sample board before so you get the desired texture.  

4. Paint in a criss cross pattern overlapping strokes...image above.  

5.  Top coat I used Behr Ultra White base 7050 interior satin enamal finish.   Painting in a criss cross pattern same as the undercoat.

P.S.:  Handles where removed and transformed by spray painting (for metal),  two colors where overlapped...Grey & White

2) Comment j'ai procédé...How I proceeded

1. Gardé le buffet, peinturer brun foncé, déménager sur le mur opposé...Keep and paint the buffet dark brown, move to the opposite wall
2. Mettre à vendre ou donner la table et chaises...Sell the chairs and table or give to a good cause.
3. Peinturé le mur avec des rayures pour renforcer le point focal (banquette à venir)...Paint stripes on the wall to add punch for the focal point (banquette to follow).
4. Tapis à enlever et remplacer par un bois brun foncé...Replace carpet with dark brown wood floor.

Étapes suivi pour réaliser le projet 

J'ai...                                                                                                                            1.  Sablé le meuble légèrement, appliqué une peinture de couche de fond, j'aime bien la marque Zinsser base d'huile, apprêt d'impression antitaches de chez Home Dépôt. 2.  Peinture Behr latex jaune no. 320B-4. & gris no.1857 cote à cote dans un plat3.  Estompé les deux couleurs en même temps...ceci crée un effet marbré et laissé le temps de sécher préférablement jusqu'au lendemain.4 & 5.  Appliqué la Cire à Patiner, j'ai utilisé la marque Les Anciens Ébénistes couleur Chêne Médium partout sauf sur les tiroirs, c'est une cire à pâte molle et très facile à appliquer.  La décoration des tiroirs possède un effet ambré et fini avec la cire à patiner incolore.6.   Application des clous de tapisserie, marque Paulin & Co. no. 847-432, couleur platine ''nickle'' acheté chez Home Depot.7.  Mesuré la distance entre les clous de tapisserie, 25 cm voir photo 8.  Pré-perforé des petits trous avant de placer les clous, ceci facilite la tache délicte d'enfoncement avec un marteau.9. Voilà!

Steps followed to complete the project

I've...                                                                                                                            1. Slightly sanded furniture, apply a paint primer, I like the brand Zinsser oil based primer sealer stain from Home Depot.2. Behr paint latex yellow no. 320B-4. & Gray no.1857 poured side by side in a dish3. Dipped my 2 inch brush into the colors at the same time ... this creates a marbled effect and left to dry preferably overnight.4 & 5. Applied the soft wax , I used the mark Artbec.ca  Medium Oak color is a soft wax and very easy to apply everywhere except on the drawers. The drawers where lightly marbled and finished with the clear soft wax.6. Upholstery nails brand Paulin & Co. no. 847-432, platinum nickle'''' bought at Home Depot.7. Total measurement between on set of five tapestry nails is 9.5 inches (see pic below)8. Pre-punch small holes before placing the nails, this facilitates the delicate task9. Completed pic!
